In my latest essay for Notre Dame’s Church Life Journal, I explored a fresh perspective on transubstantiation advanced by three prominent Catholic thinkers: Pope Benedict XVI, Monsignor Robert Sokolowski, and Bishop Robert Barron. Though writing independently, these thinkers converge in presenting the Eucharist as the elevation of nature to a higher ontological plane—where God becomes present within his creation in a non-competitive way, anticipating the ultimate transfiguration of all things in Christ in heavenly glory. This approach is fascinating, and I hope you give it a read here at ND’s website. here at ND’s website.
